Brother to Brother, Brother to Brother. Brother to Brother, Brother to Brother…

Tongues Untied
1989, 55 minutes
Written and Directed by Marlon Riggs

This unconventional film by Marlon Riggs (1957-1994) blends documentary footage with poetry, personal account and fiction in an attempt to depict the specificity of black gay identity.

Included are fierce examples of homophobia and racism, as well as affirmation of the black gay male experience: protest marches, smoky bars, snap divas, humorous musicology, and vogue dancing.

When it originally aired on PBS, Tongues Untied contributed to the national debate about the public funding for art with nudity, gay themes, and pointed political commentary.

featuring Essex Hemphill (1957–1995) with Michael Bell, Djola Bernard Branner, Ben Callet, Gerald Davis, Kenneth R. Dixon (1945-1994), Darnell Stephens-Durio, Larry Duckette, Gideon Ferebee (1950-2005), Brian Freeman, A.J. Honey, Paul Horrey, David Hunter, Wayson Jones, David Barron Kirkland, Richard Medford, Cornelius Moore, Bryant Navy, Willi Ninja (1961-2006), Michael Oatis, Bob Paris, Christopher Prince, Timothy Riena, Ron Simmons, Britt Tennell, Taalib-Din Shakir, Robert D. Your blog is a total waste of space. YOU are a total disgrace. What exactly are you trying to say with your useless and depressing blog? It is a TOTAL waste of people's time. You should be banned for LIFE from blogging. Do yourself a favor and stop "blogging", go back to school and come back when you have something meaningful to write about.
